COFFEESHOP/TEAROOM OWNERS OFFER AN AMERICAN TEA PARTY

WAUKESHA,WISCONSIN JANUARY 15, 2011:  Bringing years of study and practice together, the owners of The Steaming Cup, a favorite Waukesha Coffeeshop/café/tearoom, announce a new effort that resonates with the Heartland of America.

Kerry & Terry Mackay are defining and offering a true AMERICAN TEA PARTY.  This is a food event that parallels the event traditionally called a British High Tea across America today.  In their adjoining business, Waukesha’s SpringHouse TeaRoom, they have practiced and refined the roots of their concept.  Taking the practice to over 180 individual tea party events, the definition has now fully expanded beyond the traditional historical boundaries.

Visiting a wide range of American tearooms and tea restaurants for over 20 years, the couple found a growing interest in the tea party concept.  They have nurtured that interest and are now offering a tea that builds strong interest and lasting value in their guests.  An AMERICAN TEA is one that respects historical tradition, but has fresher offerings, more flavorful and diverse which are offered in an educational moment that strengthens and builds an event memory for all connected.  Their formula continues to improve with each event.  The AMERICAN TEA has been given to over 35 different Red Hat groups.  It has been enjoyed by the same Tripoli Shrine organization for five years as a foundation for their annual planning meeting.  Family groups, bridal parties, anniversary and momentous birthday occasions have graced the SpringHouse TeaRoom and the AMERICAN TEA as their opportunity to have a personal unique event.

Jaunary is known as Hot Tea month in America.

The first tea group in 2011 to visit the SpringHouse TeaRoom came from Watertown.  The seven women in the party had discovered the tearoom by doing some on-line research.  They arrived with the stated intention to ‘explore their femininity.’ Since an AMERICAN TEA PARTY has a role for all participants to share friendship and conversation, they left after building strong memories in the two hours required for a tea.  The feedback for the AMERICAN TEA PARTY has been overwhelmingly positive.

Kerry Mackay, who also teaches Tea classes at the TeaRoom site for the Continuing Ed program at University of Wisconsin-Waukesha, has hopes to teach BUILDING AN AMERICAN TEA PARTY during the fall of 2011 semester.  Classes for tea topics generate high interest and usually fill to capacity very early.
